I'm finding the forums quite cumbersome to use for developer-to-developer communications, and quite difficult to monitor several open topics at once. I'm subscribed to a dozen or so web-based forums, and about 2-dozen mailing lists and usenet newsgroups and I find the latter much quicker/easier to use.

Are you interested in setting up a mailing list for active Zet developers? I'm suggesting that the list could complement, rather than replace, the forums. We'd use it for active discussions on current development issues such as we have now with EMS, BIOS flash drive and 16550 cores. Stuff that is more one-to-one or 'debate' or intricate details that most users wouldn't be interested in?

Any news or siginificant issues would still be posted to the forums.

What's your opinion?

BTW "miscellaneous" has two L's... ;)

I'd be happy to setup/maintain the mailing list.
We have a server at work that I'm using to host one already.

Hi I found this forum quite hard to keep track of until I saw the "View active topics" active topics link at the top (2 lines under the PM new message count). I use that link now pretty much all the time and I find it fine.

With a small team like we have now a mailing list will work well. I do not like mailing lists with large teams as you tend to get threads repeated within messages and it is combersome. I find the level of noise is high in mailing lists too.

I have to admit that I prefer the forums instead of mailing lists. The reason is that it keeps the project alive for people that just visit the webpage occasionally.

Also, if the DE1 thread would have been private (in a mailing list) some other people couldn't have it run in their boards (like Dirk, for example).

OK, I'll try out the "View active topics" and see how that works for me.

I forgot to say do not forget you can subscribe to threads on the board and you will then get email notification of a new post.

I have only subscribed to a thread before and that certainly worked.
